1. Visa Types and Requirements

Tourist Visa:

• Validity: Typically valid for up to 90 days, depending on the issuing authority.

Application Process & Requirements:

• Passport: Valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay.
• Completed Visa Application Form: Accurately filled and signed.
• Photographs: Recent passport-sized photos.
• Proof of Accommodation: Hotel reservations or an invitation letter from a host in Brunei.
• Return/Onward Ticket: Evidence of departure from Brunei.
• Financial Proof: Bank statements demonstrating sufficient funds for the duration of the stay.
• Visa Fee: Payment as specified by the Brunei diplomatic mission.

Business Visa:

Purpose: For attending business meetings, conferences, or related activities.

Validity: Generally valid for the duration of the business activities, as approved.

Application Process & Requirements:

• Passport: Valid for at least six months beyond the intended stay.

• Photographs: Recent passport-sized photos.

• Employment Verification: Letter from your employer confirming your position and the purpose of travel.

Transit Visa:

Purpose: For travellers transiting through Brunei to a third country.

Validity: Up to 72 hours.

Application Process & Requirements:

• Valid Passport.
• Confirmed Onward Ticket: Proof of travel to the next destination within 72 hours.
• Valid Visa for Next Destination: If required.
• Visa Fee: B$5 (Brunei Dollars).

2. Application Procedure

Submission: Applications should be submitted to the nearest Brunei Darussalam diplomatic mission or embassy.

Processing Time: Typically takes about three working days; however, it’s advisable to apply well in advance of your intended travel date.

• Brunei does not offer Visa on Arrival facilities for most Africans travelling to the country. Therefore, obtaining a visa prior to travel is essential.
• Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay and contains blank pages for visa stamps.
• Stay informed about any health advisories, vaccination requirements and changes to the country's visa requirements before traveling.
• Brunei is an Islamic nation with strict laws and customs. Familiarise yourself with local regulations to ensure respectful and lawful conduct during your stay.
• Travel with between $1000 to $2000 dollars cash incase of any issues you may face during your trip.
• Have all important documentation printed out and ready to present at immigration
• It is recommended for African citizens to travel via plane and arrive at the designated airport.
