Visa Requirement: African nationals are required to obtain a visa to enter Cambodia.
Visa Types:
- Tourist Visa (T-Class): Valid for 30 days, suitable for leisure travel.
- Business Visa (E-Class): Also valid for 30 days, intended for business-related activities.
2. Visa Application Options
E-Visa:
- Eligibility: Citizens from African countries are eligible to apply for a Cambodian e-Visa online.
- Application Process:
- Online Application: Submit your application through the official Cambodian e-Visa portal.
- Required Documents: A valid passport with at least six months’ validity, a recent passport-sized photo, and proof of accommodation.
- Processing Time: Typically 3–5 working days.
- Fees: Approximately $36 USD for the visa.
- Validity: The E-Visa is valid for 30 days from the date of issue, allowing a single entry and a stay of up to 30 days.
Visa on Arrival (Not Recommended for African citizens):
- Availability: Available for travellers arriving at major entry points, including Phnom Penh International Airport, Siem Reap International Airport, and certain land border crossings.
- Application Process:
- Required Documents: A valid passport with at least six months’ validity, one or two passport-sized photos, and the completed visa application form.
- Fees: $30 USD for a tourist visa; payable in cash (USD is preferred).
- Processing Time: Typically processed on the spot, taking around 30 minutes to an hour.
- Important Considerations: While VoA is convenient, some travelers have reported issues such as long queues or requests for unofficial fees. It’s advisable to have the exact amount in cash and be prepared for potential delays.
- Not every African country is eligible for Visa on Arrival.
3. General Entry Requirements
- Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your intended stay and have at least two blank pages.
- Proof of Accommodation: Be prepared to provide details of your accommodation in Cambodia.
- Proof of Sufficient Funds: While not always checked, it’s advisable to have evidence of sufficient funds to cover your stay.
- Return or Onward Ticket: You may be required to show proof of a return or onward travel ticket.
- If not returning to your own country, you may be required to show the visa of the next country you are visiting.
4. Health and Safety Considerations
- Vaccinations: Ensure you’re up-to-date with routine vaccinations. Depending on your travel history, a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate may be required.
- Travel Insurance: Strongly recommended to cover any medical emergencies, trip cancellations, or other unforeseen events.
